Liquefied petroleum gas is a clean fuel (comparable with biogas) which releases fewer pollutants than any other fuel except electricity, thus protecting the health of women and children. LPG emits lower greenhouse gas emissions than alternatives, CO2 emissions are relatively low. LPG cooking gas is Colourless and odourless but an odourising agent is added before distribution to give its characteristic smell. LPG is composed of hydrocarbons and the normal components of LPG are propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10) in varying quantity but small concentrations of other hydrocarbons may also be present. LPG is majorly used for domestic cooking in Nigeria, but is also used in power generation and a wide range of heating applications.
